FertiAlly: Bringing Fertility Treatment Home

For those of you who follow me closely, you know that I am an ambassador for MyIVFAnswers, which was co-founded by my friend, Jakub Dejewski from Poland. All of our lives have been impacted by this Coronavirus pandemic. But those who are struggling to build their families have a unique set of obstacles. We have all had to rely more on virtual doctor’s visits, tele-health appointments… even Zoom calls with friends has taken precedence over in person social gatherings. Jakub Dejewski has come up with a new way to help those in the throes of infertility treatment, and I want to share his new platform, FertiAlly with YOU. The article which you are about to read was written by Jakub and I will be sharing his exact words with you. At the end of this article you will find an 8-minute video that is an example of one of the ways that FertiAlly can be beneficial to you. Thank you in advance for reading, and I hope you will soon be able to take advantage of what FertiAlly has to offer.

This last year have been tough on everyone. For all of us that have been able to remain healthy and disease free it has been a challenging year to say the least but imagine if you have a disease which relies on medical intervention and is time sensitive. This is an issue many tens of thousands of couples who experience fertility issues have had to suffer for over one year. Successive lockdowns have closed fertility clinics and paused treatments, and for patients seeking answers to their specific fertility problems, frustration, anger, and sadness have been added to the long list of anxieties caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. It is with sadness to consider that many will have had to give up their pursuit of a family due to not being able to access treatment.

A year in the life of someone with infertility is a long one, being unable to access professional help when you are at your lowest, emotionally and physically, just adds to the psychological torment that infertility can sow.

In a year when Covid-19 has dashed so many dreams it is a welcome relief to be able to consider one positive development arising from the home confinement that many of us have had to get used to. The pandemic stopped and slowed down many a thing but the increased use of telemedicine, the art of ‘healing at a distance’, is something which has grown and been universally accepted as a mechanism which has empowered patients and increased their ability to access health information digitally when it has not been possible to do so ‘in person’.

The World Health Organisation defines telemedicine as,

“The delivery of health care services, where distance is a critical factor, by all health care professionals using information and communication technologies for the exchange of valid information for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease and injuries, research and evaluation, and for the continuing education of health care providers, all in the interests of advancing the health of individuals and their communities.”

The emergence and establishment of the digital age via the internet and use of computers, tablets and mobile phones has facilitated the expansion of telemedicine. The range of applications and platforms which deliver telemedicine have been shown to tackle and alleviate both regional and global health problems and over the last 12 months have certainly come of age.

We are emerging from the pandemic with a new set of tools at our disposal which promote access, equity and cost effectiveness amongst those seeking health care.

The launch of new fertility platform - FertiAlly.com demonstrates the flexibility and relevance of telemedicine, providing much needed assistance to a community that has largely not been able to fully access face to face help during the pandemic whilst allowing those who wish to manage their own health needs from the privacy of their own home. In short, FertiAlly is leading the race to provide online clinical support for anyone with fertility issues regardless of their geography or their specific access requirements.

The goal of FertiAlly is to ultimately improve health outcomes for those who use it. It does by providing video resources, created by fertility experts, who are directed by the patients themselves.
